SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide an excellent introduction to Theology of the Body and a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. The facilitators will use the DVD series from Ascension Press\, An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life. \nThe course will address the two most fundamental and universal questions: \n\nWhat does it mean to be made human\, male and female\, in the image and likeness of God?\nHow can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?\n\nThis study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old; single\, married; clergy and religious! Participants under age 18 may attend accompanied by parent/guardian. Nursing infants are welcome. \n4-Part Series:\nMondays & Tuesdays | 6 – 9pm\nNov 18\, Nov 19\, Dec 2\, & Dec 3\, 2024\nLocation: Holy Name Catholic Church\, in the Undercroft\n2914 S 3rd St\, Louisville\, KY 40208\nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. After graduating from college\, he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at a college in Bowling Green\, Ohio before serving on the missionary staff of a Catholic camp in Texas before going back to Ohio as a campus minister. \n\n\nBecause he is generous to the core — in May 2023\, Justin donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger! After his recovery\, he found our job post online and in August 2024 celebrated his one year anniversary with FRP. \nLong before his employment with FRP\, Justin began taking masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. He recently completed his 8th course in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá and he and his wife attended WYD in Lisbon\, Portugal in 2023. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is the first and currently the only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nJohn married his wonderful wife\, Crystal in October of 2019. Together they strive to understand\, embrace and live Theology of the Body! After many years of struggling with infertility\, they are expecting their first child in late September. \n******************** \n\n\n \n\nJustin Leiner\nFRP Classroom Presenter & Content Specialist \nJustin was born & raised in the great state of Alaska! He enjoys swing dancing and rock climbing and is a generous self-giver (he donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger)! \nJustin has a degree in Theology from St. John’s University (Collegeville\, MN) and is currently pursuing a Masters in Psychology from Divine Mercy University. After graduating from college he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green\, Ohio. \nJustin has completed the 8 required masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022.
