SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body Crash Course
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n \nThis course will provide an excellent introduction to Theology of the Body and a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. The facilitators will use the DVD series from Ascension Press\, An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life. (Written as an 8-part study to gather weekly for 8 weeks\, we’ve consolidated all 8 sessions into this crash course with time for reflection\, discussion\, and prayer.) \nThe course will address the two most fundamental and universal questions: \n\nWhat does it mean to be made human\, male and female\, in the image and likeness of God?\nHow can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?\n\nThis study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old; single\, married; clergy and religious! Participants under age 18 may attend accompanied by parent/guardian. \n\nFriday\, August 16\, 6:30pm – 9:30pm AND\nSaturday\, August 17\, 8am – 4pm* \nThis consolidated crash course is an ideal solution for those who aren’t able to attend consecutive weeks due to work\, family obligations\, travel distance\, etc. Nursing infants are welcome. \nLocation: St. Luke Catholic Church (Education Center)\n4211 Jim Hawkins Dr\, Louisville\, KY 40229 \n*The course is scheduled to end so those who are able can attend the 4pm Vigil Mass at St. Luke. \nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. They are committed students and avid enthusiasts of TOB; their knowledge along with their heart-warming personalities will provide a wonderful experience to participants throughout this two-part course. \nGet to know the Frenches . . . \nBoth UK grads\, Amanda [originally from Owensboro] has a degree in communication sciences and disorders\, she currently works part-time as a speech language pathologist; Preston [originally from Western Kentucky] has a degree in mechanical engineering and currently works for a local engineering company. \nAmanda enjoys ice cream\, spending time with her family\, being outdoors on her family’s farm\, and hiking. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. Both are cradle Catholics\, but neither knew nor practiced their faith until each had separate conversion experiences in college. After years of friendship and growing in their relationship with the Lord\, Vincent and Lucia were married in 2023. They live in Louisville with their baby daughter\, Sofía. \nLucia\, a native of Orlando\, Florida\, is a competitive ballroom dancer; she enjoys puzzles and games\, and she directs the choir and theatre programs at Holy Angels Academy. Lucia has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has spent the last few years teaching middle and high school mathematics at Holy Angels; she is now an Executive Assistant with St. Joseph Ministries. \nVincent grew up in Louisville\, and in his free time enjoys brewing wine and mead\, long conversations over good bourbon and a pipe\, and keeping bees with his dad. He is also a co-host of Spirit & Spire\, a podcast at the Cathedral of the Assumption. Vincent is a full-time employee of Family Renewal Project\, presenting a virtue-based ‘healthy relationships’ program to middle & high school students during the school day and occasionally facilitates other FRP offerings (including this one!). \nVincent and Lucia are passionate about Theology of the Body\, and are excited to share their passion with you! \n  \n\n\nRegister for Event\nFill out my online form.\n \n

In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. He now serves as the Parochial Vicar of Mary\, Mother of God Parish in McKeesport and White Oak\, as Chaplain at Serra Catholic High School\, and Chaplain to the Pittsburgh Courage Chapter that walks with individuals experiencing same-sex attraction. \nFather studied at the John Paul II Institute in Rome and is passionate about promoting the Church’s vision for marriage and family. \nFather is part of Dry Bones Ministries\, a non-profit seeking to aid evangelization efforts in Pittsburgh; Our Lady of Mt. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. Lucia Ricketts and John Sohl will lead a discussion of the Theology of the Body. Our bodies express us to the world around us\, and dancing is also an expression of ourselves. Lucia and her dance partner will then lead us in learning to dance the Rumba. You do not need ANY experience to attend!
