On Saturday\, February 28 you will have a unique opportunity to discover and reflect on your call to be a man in marriage. In the Steps of Christ\, the Bridegroom: Following the Son of Man to Be a Man in Marriage will focus on living sacrificial love for a healthy marriage. This retreat-style day of reflection will be led by Fr. Jonathan Erdman (see bio below). \nThis is not just another event — it’s an opportunity to be the man you are called to be! The event is open to all married men; however priority will be given to engaged and newly married men (3 years or less). \nSpace is limited. Registration is required. \nTo give priority to engaged and newly married men\, all men who are married more than 3 years will be placed on a first come/first serve wait list until February 18 (10 days prior to the event). On February 18\, if space is available\, these men will be notified in the order their registrations were received and given the option to attend OR receive a refund of the registration fee. \nTo reserve your spot\, please complete the registration form below.  \nThe day will include:  \n\na simple continental breakfast and lunch\nbeverages and snacks throughout the day\nfour (4) talks by Fr. Jonathan Erdman\n \nFather Jonathan Erdman was born in Mahoning Township\, Pennsylvania in 1978. He is the son of an Episcopal Priest. Father Erdman received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri – Rolla in 2000\, and his MDiv from Yale University Divinity School in 2004. He was an Episcopal priest for twelve years before he and his family converted to the Catholic Church in July of 2016. He was ordained a Catholic priest on June 29\, 2017.  \nFather Erdman and his family came to Louisville in July of 2010 from New York City\, where he served as Curate and Youth Minister at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. From 2010 to early 2016 he served as Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville. He and his wife\, Andrea\, have five beautiful children. \nFather Erdman is passionate about preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is committed to pastoral ministry and worship\, and in making the riches of the traditions of the Church available\, especially the patrimony of the Anglican Catholic tradition. He then worked as a Campus Minister for two years before making his way to Kentucky as a full-time member of the FRP Discipleship Team where he serves as a Classroom Presenter / Content Specialist and Coordinator of the Catholic Couples Network Ministry. \nIn his role as Classroom Presenter\, Justin & his Teammates give presentations on the dignity of the human person and ‘healthy relationships’ to middle & high school students in over 40 classrooms throughout KYANA. \nJustin has completed the eight (8) required master’s level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University who loves hunting\, fishing\, hiking\, theater\, videography\, and playing baseball. \nAfter discerning the call to the priesthood\, John transitioned from seminary to the role of discipleship leader in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples is the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended and led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá; and Lisbon\, Portugal (accompanied by his wife\, Crystal). \nFor over six years (2015-2022)\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he and one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nIn March 2022\, John became the first and remains the only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to complete his master’s level coursework [eight 30-hour immersion courses\, testing\, papers\, and an in-depth practicum] and receive the distinguished Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute — a major accomplishment! \nTogether\, John and his wife\, Crystal\, strive to understand\, embrace\, and live Theology of the Body! In the Steps of Christ\, the Bridegroom: Following the Son of Man to Be a Man in Marriage will focus on living sacrificial love for a healthy marriage. This retreat-style day of reflection will be led by Fr. Jonathan Erdman (see bio below). \nThis is not just another event — it’s an opportunity to be the man you are called to be! The event is open to all married men; however priority will be given to engaged and newly married men (3 years or less). \nSpace is limited. Registration is required. \nTo give priority to engaged and newly married men\, all men who are married more than 3 years will be placed on a first come/first serve wait list until May 14 (10 days prior to the event). Jonathan Erdman\n \nFather Jonathan Erdman was born in Mahoning Township\, Pennsylvania in 1978. He is the son of an Episcopal Priest. Father Erdman received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri – Rolla in 2000\, and his MDiv from Yale University Divinity School in 2004. He was an Episcopal priest for twelve years before he and his family converted to the Catholic Church in July of 2016. He was ordained a Catholic priest on June 29\, 2017.  \nFather Erdman and his family came to Louisville in July of 2010 from New York City\, where he served as Curate and Youth Minister at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. From 2010 to early 2016 he served as Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville. He and his wife\, Andrea\, have five beautiful children. \nFather Erdman is passionate about preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is committed to pastoral ministry and worship\, and in making the riches of the traditions of the Church available\, especially the patrimony of the Anglican Catholic tradition. After years of friendship and growing in their relationship with the Lord\, Vincent and Lucia were married in 2023. They live in Louisville with their baby daughter\, Sofía. \nLucia\, a native of Orlando\, Florida\, is a competitive ballroom dancer; she enjoys puzzles and games\, and she directs the choir and theatre programs at Holy Angels Academy. Lucia has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has spent the last few years teaching middle and high school mathematics at Holy Angels; she is now an Executive Assistant with St. Joseph Ministries. \nVincent grew up in Louisville\, and in his free time enjoys brewing wine and mead\, long conversations over good bourbon and a pipe\, and keeping bees with his dad. He is also a co-host of Spirit & Spire\, a podcast at the Cathedral of the Assumption. After graduating from college\, he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at a college in Bowling Green\, Ohio before serving on the missionary staff of a Catholic camp in Texas before going back to Ohio as a campus minister. \n\n\nBecause he is generous to the core — in May 2023\, Justin donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger! After his recovery\, he found our job post online and in August 2024 celebrated his one year anniversary with FRP. \nLong before his employment with FRP\, Justin began taking masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. He recently completed his 8th course in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide an excellent introduction to Theology of the Body and a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. The facilitators will use the DVD series from Ascension Press\, An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life. \nThe course will address the two most fundamental and universal questions: \n\nWhat does it mean to be made human\, male and female\, in the image and likeness of God?\nHow can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?\n\nThis study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old; single\, married; clergy and religious! Participants under age 18 may attend accompanied by parent/guardian. Nursing infants are welcome. \n4-Part Series:\nMondays & Tuesdays | 6 – 9pm\nNov 18\, Nov 19\, Dec 2\, & Dec 3\, 2024\nLocation: Holy Name Catholic Church\, in the Undercroft\n2914 S 3rd St\, Louisville\, KY 40208\nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. After graduating from college\, he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at a college in Bowling Green\, Ohio before serving on the missionary staff of a Catholic camp in Texas before going back to Ohio as a campus minister. \n\n\nBecause he is generous to the core — in May 2023\, Justin donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger! After his recovery\, he found our job post online and in August 2024 celebrated his one year anniversary with FRP. \nLong before his employment with FRP\, Justin began taking masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. He recently completed his 8th course in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá and he and his wife attended WYD in Lisbon\, Portugal in 2023. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is the first and currently the only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nJohn married his wonderful wife\, Crystal in October of 2019. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá and he and his wife attended WYD in Lisbon\, Portugal in 2023. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is the first and currently the only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nJohn married his wonderful wife\, Crystal in October of 2019. Together they strive to understand\, embrace and live Theology of the Body! After many years of struggling with infertility\, they are expecting their first child in late September. \n******************** \n\n\n \n\nJustin Leiner\nFRP Classroom Presenter & Content Specialist \nJustin was born & raised in the great state of Alaska! He enjoys swing dancing and rock climbing and is a generous self-giver (he donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger)! \nJustin has a degree in Theology from St. John’s University (Collegeville\, MN) and is currently pursuing a Masters in Psychology from Divine Mercy University. After graduating from college he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green\, Ohio. \nJustin has completed the 8 required masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body.
