SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body Crash Course
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n  \nDate/Time:\nFriday\, September 19\, 2025 (6:30pm – 9:30pm) AND\nSaturday\, September 20\, 2025 (8:30am – 4:30pm)\n*Ends in time for participants to go to Confession and attend the Vigil Mass if they choose\nLocation: St. Patrick Catholic Church (1000 N. Beckley Station Road\, Louisville\, KY 40245)\nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. FREE for college students\, missionaries\, and clergy. \nDo you wonder  . . .  \n\nHow do I live my life in a way that will bring true happiness? \nWhy do I have all of these desires in my body? … in my soul? … and what am I supposed to do with them? \nWhat does it mean to be a man? What does it mean to be a woman?\nWhat does it mean to be human?\n\nThe culture—the world we live in and that our children and grandchildren are growing up in—is utterly confused about the answers to these questions!  \nFor such a time as this\, we have been given (and you have the opportunity to receive) the great gift that will be offered at St. Patrick on September 19 and 20! \nGod Himself took on flesh—He became a human person\, a man\, a body! Our bodies matter: in fact\, they tell a divine story!  \nJoin us to discover your story\, your identity\, and your true purpose!  \nThis consolidated crash course\, starting on Friday evening and ending on Saturday afternoon\, is an ideal solution for those who aren’t able to attend consecutive weeks due to work\, family obligations\, travel distance\, etc. \n* Nursing infants are welcome. \nCourse Overview:\nThis course is an excellent introduction to the teachings of the Church known as “Theology of the Body” and will provide a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. Using the Ascension Press series An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life (an 8-part study that we have consolidated into a weekend crash course)\, the interactive course will include time for reflection\, discussion\, and prayer. \nThis opportunity is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old\, single\, married\, parents\, empty-nesters\, clergy\, and religious! \nParticipants under age 18 may attend if accompanied by parent/guardian. \nRegistration:\nRegister by completing the form at the end of the page.\nIf registering as a family\, choose Couple and complete the fields for the first two people\, then add remaining names and information in the Comment/Questions box at the bottom of the form. \nRegistration fee includes Handouts\, Snacks\, and Drinks throughout and a Continental Breakfast on Saturday. For lunch on Saturday\, either bring your own lunch or prepay and lunch will be provided for you. \nAccompanying Minors: There are excellent Theology of the Body materials available for children of all ages; however\, this course is designed for a more mature audience. Children under the age of 18 can attend at the discretion of their parents (guardian) and must be accompanied by an adult. \nCatechist Credit: All Family Renewal Project courses qualify for Catechist Credit through the Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Faith Formation. Those seeking credit\, please complete the appropriate information on the registration form so we know to verify your attendance. \n\n\n\nMaterials:\nA course handout will be provided (no additional cost). \nA digital workbook and online access to the accompanying videos for one year is available from Ascension Press. Click here to purchase. \n\n\n\n\nFacilitator:\n\n\n \nJohn Sohl serves full-time as the Director of Discipleship for Family Renewal Project. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University who loves hunting\, fishing\, hiking\, theater\, videography\, and playing baseball. \nAfter discerning the call to the priesthood\, John transitioned from seminary to the role of discipleship leader in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples is the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended and led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá; and Lisbon\, Portugal (accompanied by his wife\, Crystal). \nFor over six years (2015-2022)\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he and one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nIn March 2022\, John became the first and remains the only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to complete his master’s level coursework [eight 30-hour immersion courses\, testing\, papers\, and an in-depth practicum] and receive the distinguished Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute — a major accomplishment! \nTogether\, John and his wife\, Crystal\, strive to understand\, embrace\, and live Theology of the Body! They were married in October of 2019 and after four years of infertility\, they welcomed their first child (a daughter) in September of 2024. \n\n\nFor questions or additional information\, please contact us:\n502.303.1996 (call or text)\nemail: info@familyrenewalproject.com \nRegister for Event\nFill out my online form.

He attended Saint Xavier High School (2001) and UofL\, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history (2006). He entered Saint Meinrad Seminary in 2008 where he earned both master of divinity and master in Catholic philosophical studies degrees. Upon his ordination to the priesthood Father was assigned to Saint Gabriel as Associate Pastor\, then a year later (2016) moved to Saint Patrick as Associate Pastor while also serving at Saint Boniface. In 2019 he became the Pastor at Ascension and in 2023 the Pastor at Saint Aloysius in Shepherdsville and Saint Benedict in Lebanon Junction where he continues to serve today.  \n  \nDuring his early years of seminary studies\, Father Carrico developed an interest in mental health advocacy and ministry. After losing his brother\, Kurtis\, to suicide in 2012\, Father’s commitment to those who suffer from mental illness and thoughts of despair deepened even more. Father is enthusiastic about many things\, including Theology of the Body and the universal truths of the human person; truths that not only renew the personhood of a man as priest of Jesus Christ\, but the personhood of those to whom every priest is called to serve. \n*Fr. Carrico has attended (4) 30-hour immersion courses at the TOB institute: \n\nTOB 1: “Head and Heart”\nTOB 2: “Into the Deep”\nTOB & the Interior Life\nTOB & the Marian Mystery\n\n  \n\n\n \nJohn Sohl serves full-time as the Director of Discipleship for Family Renewal Project.
