Approaching these topics &/or providing appropriate responses to questions often induces anxiety in parents because they either feel uncomfortable or uncertain OR because they fear their responses may influence their children to act in a certain way.  “YOU“ is here for you and your teens. \nIn our current culture\, teens receive conflicting messages everywhere they turn. To be prepared to make decisions and live independently\, they deserve to know more than the rules of what’s right and wrong. \n“YOU” will provide the whys behind the whats\, and pave the way to authentic freedom and true happiness! \nPersonhood is being challenged in ways that our parents and grandparents could have never imagined! Providentially\, Saint John Paul II’s writings and vision of the human person known as “Theology of the Body” has come to us for a time such as this! \n“YOU” is based on Theology of the Body and the teachings of the Catholic Church! \n\n \n\n\n\n\nYOU. Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body \nRecipient of the 2022 How to Homeschool Award\n \nBest Home School Programs on the Planet \n\n \nWho Will Facilitate? \n \nVincent holds a BS in Economics and a BA in Spanish (he speaks it fluently). After college he served as a permanent substitute high school history teacher at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n\n\n  \n \n  \nMaria holds a BA in Psychology. After college she served as a private aide for a kindergarten student with Down Syndrome at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n  \n\n\n \n\n\n  \n\n\nJustin holds a BA in Theology and is pursuing a MS in Psychology. After college he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years in Ohio. Justin has completed (6) masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of this TOB Certification. \n  \nCurrently\, Vincent\, Maria\, & Justin all serve as Content Specialists & Presenters for Family Renewal Project. As a Team they givepresentations on ‘healthy relationships’ to middle & highschoolers in over 40 schools throughout KYANA. They are great witnesses to and passionate about the Catholic faith; and are committed to helping youth understand\, embrace\, and live their dignity and infinite potential. \n  \n \nSusan is a Co-Founder of Family Renewal Project. As a volunteer she serves as the FRP Education and Formation Advisor and provides Administrative Support for Good Shepherd Institute of the Bluegrass (Catholic counseling for individuals\, couples & families). \n\n\n\nAscension Press describes the YOU Series as a “life changing experience for teens”. This program will provide the opportunity for your sons and daughters [and\, oftentimes\, parents as well] to discover God’s beautiful plan for human sexuality and personhood through the lens of St. John Paul II’s magnificent work known as the Theology of the Body. \nUnderstanding the truth of what it means to be a human person made in the image and likeness of God is absolutely essential to stand against the culture and the lies of the enemy who has waged war against the family and the souls of our children! YOU: Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body will cover many topics\, including these more sensitive topics: gender identity\, same sex attraction\, contraception & abortion\, pornography\, and sex outside of marriage. All information is shared with utmost respect and sensitivity in an age-appropriate manner and faithful to the magisterium of the Church. \nHonoring that you\, as parents\, are the first and primary teachers of your children; this program will supplement & in some cases provide information you teach at home. Your role in shaping your children’s lives is pivotal. Even if it does not appear to be so\, they are watching and listening to you. Studies show again and again that parents have the largest influence on their children. Not peers\, sports\, video games\, social media\, etc. – but parents!  You are to be commended for enrolling your child (and you/your spouse) in this program!! Children (especially teens) may shy away from saying it out loud\, but they actually do want their parents to be lovingly engaged in their lives. \nEach week teens will gather in one room with two facilitators\, and parents will gather in another room with two facilitators. [Susan will always be with the parents\, while the young adults will rotate from week to week.]  Everyone will follow the same schedule and the same topics will be covered  in the same order with both groups; providing you and your children the opportunity to journey through this life-changing program together. Approaching these topics &/or providing appropriate responses to questions often induces anxiety in parents because they either feel uncomfortable or uncertain OR because they fear their responses may influence their children to act in a certain way.  “YOU“ is here for you and your teens. \nIn our current culture\, teens receive conflicting messages everywhere they turn. To be prepared to make decisions and live independently\, they deserve to know more than the rules of what’s right and wrong. \n“YOU” will provide the whys behind the whats\, and pave the way to authentic freedom and true happiness! \nPersonhood is being challenged in ways that our parents and grandparents could have never imagined! Providentially\, Saint John Paul II’s writings and vision of the human person known as “Theology of the Body” has come to us for a time such as this! \n“YOU” is based on Theology of the Body and the teachings of the Catholic Church! \n\n \n\n\n\n\nYOU. Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body \nRecipient of the 2022 How to Homeschool Award\n \nBest Home School Programs on the Planet \n\n \nWho Will Facilitate? \n \nVincent holds a BS in Economics and a BA in Spanish (he speaks it fluently). After college he served as a permanent substitute high school history teacher at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n\n\n  \n \n  \nMaria holds a BA in Psychology. After college she served as a private aide for a kindergarten student with Down Syndrome at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n  \n\n\n \n\n\n  \n\n\nJustin holds a BA in Theology and is pursuing a MS in Psychology. After college he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years in Ohio. Justin has completed (6) masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of this TOB Certification. \n  \nCurrently\, Vincent\, Maria\, & Justin all serve as Content Specialists & Presenters for Family Renewal Project. As a Team they givepresentations on ‘healthy relationships’ to middle & highschoolers in over 40 schools throughout KYANA. They are great witnesses to and passionate about the Catholic faith; and are committed to helping youth understand\, embrace\, and live their dignity and infinite potential. \n  \n \nSusan is a Co-Founder of Family Renewal Project. As a volunteer she serves as the FRP Education and Formation Advisor and provides Administrative Support for Good Shepherd Institute of the Bluegrass (Catholic counseling for individuals\, couples & families). \n\n\n\nAscension Press describes the YOU Series as a “life changing experience for teens”. This program will provide the opportunity for your sons and daughters [and\, oftentimes\, parents as well] to discover God’s beautiful plan for human sexuality and personhood through the lens of St. John Paul II’s magnificent work known as the Theology of the Body. \nUnderstanding the truth of what it means to be a human person made in the image and likeness of God is absolutely essential to stand against the culture and the lies of the enemy who has waged war against the family and the souls of our children! YOU: Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body will cover many topics\, including these more sensitive topics: gender identity\, same sex attraction\, contraception & abortion\, pornography\, and sex outside of marriage. All information is shared with utmost respect and sensitivity in an age-appropriate manner and faithful to the magisterium of the Church. \nHonoring that you\, as parents\, are the first and primary teachers of your children; this program will supplement & in some cases provide information you teach at home. Your role in shaping your children’s lives is pivotal. Even if it does not appear to be so\, they are watching and listening to you. Studies show again and again that parents have the largest influence on their children. Not peers\, sports\, video games\, social media\, etc. – but parents!  You are to be commended for enrolling your child (and you/your spouse) in this program!! Children (especially teens) may shy away from saying it out loud\, but they actually do want their parents to be lovingly engaged in their lives. \nEach week teens will gather in one room with two facilitators\, and parents will gather in another room with two facilitators. [Susan will always be with the parents\, while the young adults will rotate from week to week.]  Everyone will follow the same schedule and the same topics will be covered  in the same order with both groups; providing you and your children the opportunity to journey through this life-changing program together. Approaching these topics &/or providing appropriate responses to questions often induces anxiety in parents because they either feel uncomfortable or uncertain OR because they fear their responses may influence their children to act in a certain way.  “YOU“ is here for you and your teens. \nIn our current culture\, teens receive conflicting messages everywhere they turn. To be prepared to make decisions and live independently\, they deserve to know more than the rules of what’s right and wrong. \n“YOU” will provide the whys behind the whats\, and pave the way to authentic freedom and true happiness! \nPersonhood is being challenged in ways that our parents and grandparents could have never imagined! Providentially\, Saint John Paul II’s writings and vision of the human person known as “Theology of the Body” has come to us for a time such as this! \n“YOU” is based on Theology of the Body and the teachings of the Catholic Church! \n\n \n\n\n\n\nYOU. Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body \nRecipient of the 2022 How to Homeschool Award\n \nBest Home School Programs on the Planet \n\n \nWho Will Facilitate? \n \nVincent holds a BS in Economics and a BA in Spanish (he speaks it fluently). After college he served as a permanent substitute high school history teacher at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n\n\n  \n \n  \nMaria holds a BA in Psychology. After college she served as a private aide for a kindergarten student with Down Syndrome at a local Catholic school. \n\n\n  \n\n\n \n\n\n  \n\n\nJustin holds a BA in Theology and is pursuing a MS in Psychology. After college he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years in Ohio. Justin has completed (6) masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute in pursuit of this TOB Certification. \n  \nCurrently\, Vincent\, Maria\, & Justin all serve as Content Specialists & Presenters for Family Renewal Project. As a Team they givepresentations on ‘healthy relationships’ to middle & highschoolers in over 40 schools throughout KYANA. They are great witnesses to and passionate about the Catholic faith; and are committed to helping youth understand\, embrace\, and live their dignity and infinite potential. \n  \n \nSusan is a Co-Founder of Family Renewal Project. As a volunteer she serves as the FRP Education and Formation Advisor and provides Administrative Support for Good Shepherd Institute of the Bluegrass (Catholic counseling for individuals\, couples & families). \n\n\n\nAscension Press describes the YOU Series as a “life changing experience for teens”. This program will provide the opportunity for your sons and daughters [and\, oftentimes\, parents as well] to discover God’s beautiful plan for human sexuality and personhood through the lens of St. John Paul II’s magnificent work known as the Theology of the Body. \nUnderstanding the truth of what it means to be a human person made in the image and likeness of God is absolutely essential to stand against the culture and the lies of the enemy who has waged war against the family and the souls of our children! YOU: Life\, Love\, and the Theology of the Body will cover many topics\, including these more sensitive topics: gender identity\, same sex attraction\, contraception & abortion\, pornography\, and sex outside of marriage. All information is shared with utmost respect and sensitivity in an age-appropriate manner and faithful to the magisterium of the Church. \nHonoring that you\, as parents\, are the first and primary teachers of your children; this program will supplement & in some cases provide information you teach at home. Your role in shaping your children’s lives is pivotal. Even if it does not appear to be so\, they are watching and listening to you. Studies show again and again that parents have the largest influence on their children. Not peers\, sports\, video games\, social media\, etc. – but parents!  You are to be commended for enrolling your child (and you/your spouse) in this program!! Children (especially teens) may shy away from saying it out loud\, but they actually do want their parents to be lovingly engaged in their lives. \nEach week teens will gather in one room with two facilitators\, and parents will gather in another room with two facilitators. [Susan will always be with the parents\, while the young adults will rotate from week to week.]  Everyone will follow the same schedule and the same topics will be covered  in the same order with both groups; providing you and your children the opportunity to journey through this life-changing program together. When Father was in 7th grade his mother had a reversion to the Catholic faith. As her faith grew so did that of her husband and their children; paving the way for Adam to become a priest and her husband\, a permanent deacon (ordained in 2020). \nIn 2016\, Father was ordained as a Priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. He now serves as the Parochial Vicar of Mary\, Mother of God Parish in McKeesport and White Oak\, as Chaplain at Serra Catholic High School\, and Chaplain to the Pittsburgh Courage Chapter that walks with individuals experiencing same-sex attraction. \nFather studied at the John Paul II Institute in Rome and is passionate about promoting the Church’s vision for marriage and family. \nFather is part of Dry Bones Ministries\, a non-profit seeking to aid evangelization efforts in Pittsburgh; Our Lady of Mt. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 4 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá and he and his wife are planning to attend together this year in Lisbon\, Portugal. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. In his free time\, Preston enjoys golf\, running\, and working on house projects with his wife. \nAmanda was introduced to Theology of the Body [TOB] through her high school youth group and during her senior year of high school she read TOB for Beginners by Christopher West. At the time\, she could have never imagined the positive impact TOB would have on her future friendships & relationships.  In 2019\, while they were dating\, Preston was introduced to TOB when he and Amanda together read Dr. Edward Sri’s very popular book\, “Men\, Women\, and the Mystery of Love”.  Since then\, Preston has latched onto many of Christopher West’s teachings by attending a live Made for More event\, becoming a weekly listener of the Ask Christopher West podcast\, and making a TOB pilgrimage to Fatima and Spain in 2022. \nAmanda & Preston brought Theology of the Body into their relationship at the very beginning and keep it at the center. They recognize that their faith and TOB shaped and guided them in building a sturdy foundation for the Sacrament of Matrimony and they continue to use the teachings to guide them in their decisions and grow closer in relationship to God. They often say\, “we wouldn’t be here without it.” \n\nThe Frenches were united in marriage in 2021 and gave birth to their first child in 2022. During our time together\, you will: renew an awareness of the dignity & beauty of the human person; experience a deeper appreciation for God’s creation; explore the gift of Wonder & Awe\, Understanding\, & Counsel through the lens of Theology of the Body; and discover your story through the mystery of God who became flesh. \n \n\nFacilitator:\n \nJohn Sohl\nJohn is a graduate of Western Kentucky University who loves hunting\, fishing\, hiking\, theater\, videography and playing baseball. \nAfter discerning the call to the priesthood\, John transitioned from seminary to the role of discipleship leader in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 4 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá and he and his wife are planning to attend together this year in Lisbon\, Portugal. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is now the first and only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nJohn married his wonderful wife\, Crystal in October of 2019. We need to understand that each of us is a unique\, unrepeatable creation of God\, in all aspects of our lives. \nEXPLORE: Discovering the Adventure God Made for You is an exciting and dynamic 8-part series created and facilitated by Family Renewal Project. EXPLORE will help students discover their story and enable them to successfully and safely navigate through life. EXPLORE guides students and their parents through the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit\, introducing them to the beautiful truths of our unique call to love. \nThe series at Immaculate Conception in LaGrange is geared for students in 6-8th grades and their parents. Ideally both parents will be able to attend each session\, but this isn’t always feasible. Please plan for at least one parent or the other to attend each session {it is okay to rotate attendance}. On the rare occasion that neither parent can attend\, your child(ren) is encouraged to attend\, but another adult will need to accompany his/her (this can be another parent who is already attending). \nParticipants will — \n\nlearn how to live in authentic freedom\, love & happiness\nlearn what healthy relationships look like and how to live a life of sacrifice and discipleship\ndiscover your story through scripture and theology of the body\n\nPizza\, drinks\, snacks will be provided. \nAttendance is FREE\, but registration is required!
