SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide an excellent introduction to Theology of the Body and a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. The facilitators will use the DVD series from Ascension Press\, An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life. \nThe course will address the two most fundamental and universal questions: \n\nWhat does it mean to be made human\, male and female\, in the image and likeness of God?\nHow can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?\n\nThis study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old; single\, married; clergy and religious! Participants under age 18 may attend accompanied by parent/guardian. Nursing infants are welcome. \n4-Part Series:\nMondays & Tuesdays | 6 – 9pm\nNov 18\, Nov 19\, Dec 2\, & Dec 3\, 2024\nLocation: Holy Name Catholic Church\, in the Undercroft\n2914 S 3rd St\, Louisville\, KY 40208\nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. FREE for college students\, missionaries\, and clergy. \n\nRSVP for the Event by completing the form at the end of the page.\n\n\nIf registering as a family\, choose Couple and complete the fields for the first two people\, then add remaining names and information in the Comment/Questions box at the bottom of the form. \nRegistration fee includes handouts\, snacks\, and drinks throughout. \nAccompanying Minors: There are excellent Theology of the Body materials available for children of all ages\, however\, this course is designed for a more mature audience. After graduating from college\, he served as a FOCUS missionary for three years at a college in Bowling Green\, Ohio before serving on the missionary staff of a Catholic camp in Texas before going back to Ohio as a campus minister. \n\n\nBecause he is generous to the core — in May 2023\, Justin donated one of his kidneys to a total stranger! After his recovery\, he found our job post online and in August 2024 celebrated his one year anniversary with FRP. \nLong before his employment with FRP\, Justin began taking masters level courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. He recently completed his 8th course in pursuit of his Certification in Theology of the Body. Upon completion\, he will be only the second person in the Archdiocese of Louisville with this Certification (the other being John Sohl\, FRP’s Director of Discipleship). \nJustin enjoys swing dancing and rock climbing and\, fun fact — he was born and raised in the great state of ALASKA! \nIn addition to leading TOB courses\, Justin coordinates our ministry for couples\, Catholic Couples Network\, and primarily serves as a content specialist and classroom presenter to 5th through 9th grade students for our BRIGHT and VICTORY ministries – giving presentations on the dignity of the human person and healthy relationships to students in over 40 classrooms throughout KYANA. \nJustin is committed to helping youth understand\, embrace\, and live their dignity and infinite potential; and is a great witness to and passionate about the Catholic faith. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that developing disciples was the ultimate goal. \nJohn has attended and led pilgrimages to the last 5 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain; Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil; Kraków\, Poland; Panama City\, Panamá; and Lisbon\, Portugal (accompanied by his wife\, Crystal). \n  \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he and one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is now the first and only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to complete his master’s level coursework and receive the distinguished Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute — a major accomplishment! \nTogether\, John and his wife\, Crystal\, strive to understand\, embrace\, and live Theology of the Body!
