Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \nJohn is now the first and only person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nJohn married his wonderful wife\, Crystal in October of 2019. Tony Cecil is a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville and was ordained in 2019. He is a graduate of Bishop Simon Bruté College Seminary at Marian University (B.A.\, 2015)\, Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology (M.Div.\, 2019)\, and\, through a partnership with Saint Meinrad\, the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm (S.T.B.\, 2019). He has particular interest in liturgy\, faith formation\, and ministry to youth and young adults. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that if he’s really doing his job\, he’s developing disciples. (Those who know him can attest that he’s “really doing his job.”) \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 4 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain\, Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil\, Kraków\, Poland\, Panama City\, Panamá. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \n\nJohn is now the first person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nIn October 2019\, John married his sweetheart\, Crystal!  They attended their first TOB immersion course together in the Fall of 2019 and are now leading intro sessions for couples. \n\n\nTheology of the Body in the Archdiocese of Louisville\nA few years ago\, Family Renewal Project initiated a dialogue with the ArchLou Superintendent of Schools and other Agency Directors which led to the decision to add Theology of the Body as a permanent standard in the K-8th grade curriculum. \nFRP’s mission is to support teachers\, administrators\, parents to learn and live the beautiful teachings of our Church as presented through the lens of TOB. \n\nClick here to read the article in The Record about the addition of TOB to the curriculum.

At the age of 13\, after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation\, he began to wonder if he was being called to the priesthood. At 16\, he enrolled in high school seminary in Cheshire\, Connecticut with the Legionaries of Christ. His ongoing seminary formation took him to places across the globe\, including: Dublin\, Ireland; White Plains\, New York; Madison\, Wisconsin; and Rome\, Italy. Over the course of 10 years he achieved a licentiate in Philosophy (specializing in anthropology and ethics) and in Theology (specializing in spiritual theology). Both degrees were attained at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. A three-year pastoral assignment during seminary was dedicated to youth groups\, retreats and summer camps in the north central part of the United States. Fr. Murphy was ordained a priest with the Legionaries of Christ on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe\, December 12\, 2009. He returned to youth work\, this time in the Ohio Valley Region. From there he returned to Italy for six years where he served as chaplain to the English-speaking community of Florence in the Church of Santi Apostoli. After intense and prayerful discernment in 2019 he was granted permission by then Archbishop Kurtz to transfer “back home” and become a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville. Sign up today — space is limited!  \nFor more information — call/text: 502.303.1996 or email: info@familyrenewalproject.com \n \n\nFacilitator:\n \nJohn Sohl\nJohn is a graduate of Western Kentucky University who loves hunting\, fishing\, hiking\, theater\, videography and after a long hiatus since playing D1 baseball\, he returned to the field this summer in a young adult league! \nAfter discerning the call to the priesthood\, John transitioned from seminary to the role of discipleship leader in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Some may say “youth minister\,” but after five years of dedication to youth\, John realized that if he’s really doing his job\, he’s developing disciples. (Those who know him can attest that he’s “really doing his job.”) \nJohn has attended & led pilgrimages to the last 4 World Youth Days: Madrid\, Spain\, Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil\, Kraków\, Poland\, Panama City\, Panamá. \nFor over six years\, John served as the only male chastity instructor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Every school year he & one of his female counterparts would teach a multi-day course at over 40 schools (Catholic\, private\, and public). \n\nJohn is now the first person in the Archdiocese of Louisville to have completed his Master’s Certification in Theology of the Body from the TOB Institute … a major accomplishment! \nIn October 2019\, John married his sweetheart\, Crystal!  They attended their first TOB immersion course together in the Fall of 2019 and are now leading intro sessions for couples. \n\n\nTheology of the Body in the Archdiocese of Louisville\nA few years ago\, Family Renewal Project initiated a dialogue with the ArchLou Superintendent of Schools and other Agency Directors which led to the decision to add Theology of the Body as a permanent standard in the K-8th grade curriculum. \nFRP’s mission is to support teachers\, administrators\, parents to learn and live the beautiful teachings of our Church as presented through the lens of TOB. \n\nClick here to read the article in The Record about the addition of TOB to the curriculum.

Deacon Hedges is assigned as a Deacon at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church where he leads small study groups\, serves the Latin Mass\, and more.\n\nDeacon Dr. Hedges’ is a licensed psychiatrist and is employed as the chief medical officer for Seven Counties Services.
