SUMMARY:TOB 1: Intro to Theology of the Body Crash Course
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n  \nThis course will provide an excellent introduction to Theology of the Body and a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. The facilitators will use the DVD series from Ascension Press\, An Intro to Theology of the Body: Discovering God’s Master Plan for Your Life. (Written as an 8-part study to gather weekly for 8 weeks\, we’ve consolidated all 8 sessions into this crash course with time for reflection\, discussion\, and prayer.) \nThe course will address the two most fundamental and universal questions: \n\nWhat does it mean to be made human\, male and female\, in the image and likeness of God?\nHow can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?\n\nThis study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life and become Fully Alive — young\, old; single\, married; clergy and religious! Participants under age 18 may attend accompanied by parent/guardian. \n\nFriday\, September 6\, 6:30pm – 9:30pm AND\nSaturday\, September 7\, 8am – 4pm* \nThis consolidated crash course is an ideal solution for those who aren’t able to attend consecutive weeks due to work\, family obligations\, travel distance\, etc. Nursing infants are welcome. \nLocation: Holy Family Catholic Church — Riede Room\n3938 Poplar Level Road\, Louisville\, KY 40213 \n*The course is scheduled to end so those who are able can attend the 4:30pm Vigil Mass at Holy Family \nCost: $20 per person or $30 per couple. Both are cradle Catholics\, but neither knew nor practiced their faith until each had separate conversion experiences in college. After years of friendship and growing in their relationship with the Lord\, Vincent and Lucia were married in 2023. They live in Louisville with their baby daughter\, Sofía. \nLucia\, a native of Orlando\, Florida\, is a competitive ballroom dancer; she enjoys puzzles and games\, and she directs the choir and theatre programs at Holy Angels Academy. Lucia has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has spent the last few years teaching middle and high school mathematics at Holy Angels; she is now an Executive Assistant with St. Joseph Ministries. \nVincent grew up in Louisville\, and in his free time enjoys brewing wine and mead\, long conversations over good bourbon and a pipe\, and keeping bees with his dad. He is also a co-host of Spirit & Spire\, a podcast at the Cathedral of the Assumption. Vincent is a full-time employee of Family Renewal Project\, presenting a virtue-based ‘healthy relationships’ program to middle & high school students during the school day and occasionally facilitates other FRP offerings (including this one!). \nVincent and Lucia are passionate about Theology of the Body\, and are excited to share their passion with you! \n  \n \n\n\nRegister for Event\nFill out my online form.

She was a stay-at-home mom and ‘consummate church volunteer’ until her youngest son went to school. \nCathy formally began parish work in 1992 at St. Martha parish\, where her children went to school.  Later she served as Pastoral Associate at St. Francis Xavier (Mt. Washington) and All Saints (Taylorsville); her last 9 years she served as Pastoral Associate at St. Peter the Apostle.  She retired on December 31\, 2017. \nShe completed a two-year Ministry Formation Program and was commissioned by Archbishop Kelly as a lay minister in 1993.  She received certification in Ministry Studies at Spalding University’s Russell Institute of Religion and Ministry\, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Louisville\, in 1996.  In 2001\, Cathy was awarded Master Catechist certification for the Archdiocese of Louisville. \nCathy has a long-standing devotion to St. John Paul II. From the moment in 2012 when Archbishop Kurtz and Leisa Shulz\, our superintendent of schools announced that Theology of the Body would be incorporated into the middle school classrooms in the Archdiocese Cathy became an avid student of these beautiful teachings. \nAlong with many books\, videos\, and seminars\, she has attended two of the 30-hour graduate level immersion courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. In 2014 she began teaching Theology of the Body at her local parish with over 200 people participating in various courses. \nCathy is devoted to spreading these beautiful teachings and generous beyond measure with her time and talent. \n\nRegister for Event\nFill out my online form.
